Zaha Hadid Architects designs new Budapest city centre

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) has announced that it is to design a 7ha mixed-use neighbourhood, to be called Zugló City Centre, in northwest Budapest. The development will include a medical clinic and town hall, 35,000 sq m of communal green space, a park, pedestrian zones and bike paths.

The heart of the project will contain 900 trees connected to a reestablished ecosystem at Rákos Creek as well as a network of interconnected gardens and plazas lined by restaurants, shops, apartments and offices.

Work on the project, which is being developed by Bayer Construct Group, is due to begin in early next year and be fully complete by 2029.
